That was a quick 13 years and change, wasn’t it?
“I’m proud to unveil an extended version of the trailer that’s been playing in NA cinemas. And guess what? We’ve wrapped up development of Kingdom Hearts 3!” reads a tweet Square attributed to Director Tetsuya Nomura. “If you haven’t had the chance yet, now would be a good time to prep by playing 1.5+2.5 & 2.8. See you next month!”
The trailer Nomura mentioned can be seen above. In it, Kingdom Hearts 3 protagonists Sora, Donald, Goofy, and more can be seen teaming up and facing off against various Disney heroes and villains from movies like Frozen and Pirates of the Caribbean.
Fans have been waiting a long time for Square to finish and release Kingdom Hearts 3. Kingdom Hearts 2 is now closing in on being 14 years old, even if Square did release multiple spinoffs, remasters, and more since then. On Jan. 25, 2019, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners will finally be able to purchase the sequel.
To help prepare themselves for Kingdom Hearts 3, fans can check out every world Square has confirmed to be in the game or take a refresher course via the nine-game compilation, Kingdom Hearts – The Story So Far.
